19th century FRENCH school according to Michelangelo (1475-1564) Moses Bronze with a brown patina. Bears the mark of founder F. BARBEDIENNE. Foundryman, the mechanical reduction stamp A. Collas and number 91. It rests on a red veined marble base. Accidents to the base. Total height 50 cm, bronze height 37 cm. WORK AT RAPPORT : Michelangelo, Moses, 1513-1515, marble, H. 235 cm, Rome, San Pietro in Vincoli, tomb of Julius II. LITERATURE AT RAPPORT : Florence Rionnet, Les Bronzes Barbedienne. A dynasty of founders (1834-1954), Arthena, 2016, model listed under Cat. 158, p. 228 and reproduced on p. 122. The model for this bronze is the famous marble representing Moses by the Italian master Michelangelo made between 1513 and 1515 for the tomb of Julius II in the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. The Barbedienne foundrymen started to edit this model from 1855.
