Anatomy] - A collection of 2 books. 1/... - Lot 68 - Crait + Müller
Anatomy] - A collection of 2 books. 1/ Winslow, M. - An anatomical exposition of the structure of the human body. New edition, based on a copy corrected and enlarged by the author, to which new figures and tables have been added to facilitate its use, and the author's life. Paris, La Veuve Savoye, d'Houry, Bauche, Guillyn, Didot le jeune, 1775. 4 volumes in-12, bound in contemporary brown basane, spine ribbed and decorated, edges red - some spines cracked, headpieces and corners rubbed, endpapers renewed, some superficial spotting - [2 ff.], lxxij, 504 pp. ; [1 f.], xxiv, 611 pp. ; [2 ff.], xij, 588 pp. ; viij, p. 589-818, [1 f.], 7 copper-engraved fold-out plates. The Anatomical Exposition stands out as the first work on descriptive anatomy that discards physiological details and hypothetical explanations extraneous to the subject. Winslow did much to condense and systematize the anatomical knowledge of his time. Let us recall, for his glory, that the foramen between the large and small sacs of the peritoneum, the "hiatus of Winslow" was named after him. 2/ Boyer, M. le Baron - Traité complet d'anatomie, ou Description de toutes les parties du corps humain. Fourth edition. Paris, Migneret, 1815. 4 volumes in-8, contemporary fawn half-calf, spines decorated, speckled edges - superficial spotting, some foxing without gravity - xl, 455 pp. (black streaks on false-title); [2 ff.], 500 pp. ; [2 ff.], 452 pp. ; [2 ff.], 672 pp.
