Edward WITTIG (1897-1941) Nude kneeling Bronze... - Lot 104 - Crait + Müller
Edward WITTIG (1897-1941) Nude kneeling Bronze with a brown patina shaded with green. Signed e. wittig on the terrace. Bears on the back an inventory number in red ink LUX 356. H. 24 cm This bronze is part of the desire of the famous Polish sculptor who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (Austria) to emancipate himself from Rodin's pre-eminent style, which he studied with Madeleine Jouvray, a pupil of the Master and professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, during his stay in the French capital at the beginning of the 20th century. The smooth and simplified curves of this nude meet the characteristics of a new European classicism in which the sculptor takes part.
